Crystal first became a financial advisor in 1997 with American Express Financial Advisors. She was quickly recognized as an emerging leader and a technology advocate. Her enthusiasm for technology and computer software knowledge made her the natural choice to help rollout and train all regional advisors on the company’s first advisor managed financial planning software program. Crystal exceeded the goals of the new advisor program and received the President’s Award for Quality Advice in 1998.
As a financial advisor, Crystal had started specializing in charitable giving. When relocation ended her financial planning practice, Crystal entered the nonprofit sector full time. She also returned to graduate school and received a Master’s of Public Administration and Nonprofit Management Degree in 2004.
In 2007, Crystal found LinkedIn® and decided to re-enter financial planning to develop a highly niche market around charitable giving and nonprofits. After being out of financial planning for several years, Crystal saw tools like LinkedIn® as perfect for financial advisors with tight marketing budgets to grow their businesses quickly. Unfortunately, social media was too far ahead of the compliance curve and Crystal decided to follow her new passion of social media.
As the founder and CEO of Crystal Clear Buzz, LLC, Crystal is known as the LinkedIn® Ninja. Her company is focused on helping companies and individuals utilize social media for sales and business development – particularly LinkedIn. Crystal Clear Buzz provides training, custom strategy development, consulting and other services related to maximizing the use of LinkedIn® to find clients and grow revenue.
Crystal is the co-author of The Social Media Handbook for Financial Advisors: How to Use LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter to Build and Grow Your Business, published by John Wiley & Sons as part of the Bloomberg Financial Series.
